Logan Collins McMillan | Nursery

First things first…I think we have a name for Baby Mc….Logan Collins McMillan. We could call her “Lo” “L” “LC”! I’ve got the best of my MTV Laguna Beach world!

The nursery inspiration came from my love for the beach. Growing up in Houston and being an hour away from the coast I was always taking trips to Galveston to either surf or skimboard with my friends. Being that I had my surfboard in our attic for several years, not being used, I finally had a way to use it again! I knew I needed to find the right artwork to start with so I went to one of my favorite artists that I’ve been following since she has been sharing her art…Kayla Barker. From there I knew the Bible verse I wanted to use, Matthew 8:27. It was so fitting for so many reasons. Once my design was finished I sent the artwork over to a local print shop, Signs on the Go, and they literally wrapped the surfboard like a vehicle wrap. I LOVE how it turned out! From the colors on the surfboard I continued to use them throughout the nursery. I wanted it to feel light and airy and very beachy/coastal. One of my other inspirations for the room came from an interior designer I follow, Kate Lester, I love how she keeps things simple and clean. I didn’t want the beach theme to feel over the top but just enough to make it feel like it was a little get-away every time we went into Logan’s room.

My good friend Lindsey Glasscock, who refinishes furniture, had the perfect dresser for Logan’s room. She sanded the bad boy down, seeeeeeeeeveral times, to its natural color and gave it a nice matte finish. It feels just as good as it looks! And talk about storage galore!!

The BEAUTIFUL crib was given to us by a family friend and we feel so lucky to have such a beautiful piece of furniture in the nursery!

All the other pieces are from my MANY trips to TJMaxx, HomeGoods, Tuesday Morning, A Beautiful Mess Antiques. Grant found us the stuff Blue Heeler pup from a shop in Australia and he’s perfect! The Surfery Rhymes book is from another favorite artist I follow, Joe Vickers. I LOVE his whimsical drawings and when I saw he had a book I knew I had to have it for the nursery. On top of that he signed the book for us!

Everything about this room needed to be authentic for me. I wanted every piece to have a story and I feel like I met that goal.

And before you start the tour, thank you so much for all the family and friends for showering Logan with SO much love. Your gifts have made her entire nursery complete.
